Courtesy of the Jockey Club and historian Jane Clarke we will have almost exclusive use of Aintree Racecourse. Our guide, Jane Clarke, is an expert on the history of this famous steeplechase course, home of the Grand National. Arriving for 11am we will make our way to the Princess Royal Box for coffee/tea and an introductory talk. We will then take a guided walk to see the Weighing-in Room (now McCoy’s Bar) and other on-course landmarks including (fingers crossed) Mrs Topham’s House. A sandwich lunch will be provided in the PR box and there will be time after that for further exploration.
We think that this is a very special opportunity and have reserved 50 places, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Hats optional but comfortable footwear advisable.
Travel by Merseyrail on the Ormskirk Line to Aintree, cross the road to the main entrance and walk up Grand National avenue to reception. If you are travelling by car there is ample parking for your horse box and car! Enter by the main gate on Ormskirk Road L9 5AS.
